This book’s title attracted my attention, it’s the same title as that amazing ’70s movie starring Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand.
In my research (yes, I googled it) I’ve noticed that it has been renamed as: When You Were Mine.
The Way We Were di Elizabeth Noble.
This is a book about second chances.
A young love story that ends for many reasons makes a return in the adult lives of the main characters of this story, Susannah and Rob.
Going back to where they’ve started is, however, difficult -it probably couldn’t be otherwise- and painful.
The plot of this story is full of sub-plots: a dear friend who’s sadly very sich, flashbacks about the first time Susannah and Rob fell in love, the meaning of being a mother and many other things.
Before you’ll start accusing me that this is yet another sad book …it’s not.
Well actually it is is but it’s not only a sad book. It’s a story that, despite everything, really makes you want to hope for the best whatever happens.
Have you seen The Way We Were? If you’re a Sex & The City fan I’m sure that you’ve at least heard of it!
